About the Award
In honour of Julia’s memory and recognition of her impact on the industry, Women in Mining BC has created the Julia Lane Rising Star Award. Julia Lane died in a plane crash during the summer of 2019 while working at an exploration camp. Julia is remembered as an inspirational individual who left behind a legacy for all to follow. She was passionate about her job and had an infectious enthusiasm that allowed her to connect and share her enthusiasm with everyone she met including co-workers, community members, visitors to site, and the general public. She was an avid volunteer in the industry and a mentor to many aspiring geologists.
