WIMBC is thrilled to introduce the Aurora Award at this year’s Annual Reception on May 8, 2018 during CIM.
We created this award to honour dynamic women in mining who inspire others through thoughtful leadership and creating connections. It is called the Aurora Award, after the dynamic and inspiring natural phenomenon, just like our phenomenal award winners.
Nalaine is a Principal at ArrowBlade Consulting Services, which provides professional services in the areas of natural resource management, industrial project development, regulatory review, and consultation. She sits on the board of directors of the Tahltan Nation, and GeoScience B.C. She has worked for both mining companies such as Hudbay as well as directly for the government, in the Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency, and has worked with First Nations across Canada on a variety of projects from mining, pipelines to highway infrastructure. Nalaine combines her technical qualifications and experience with her traditional knowledge to create cultural understanding on resource projects and is recognized nationally for her work in environmental and heritage assessment. In fact, many of the innovative processes she has helped develop have been subsequently adopted for use at the provincial level.
Nalaine is an exceptional woman in mining and we are proud to recognize her numerous contributions to the industry!
“If we think about environmental stewardship or stewardship of lands, it takes all of us to contribute to that. It’s not just First Nations; it’s not just environmentalists. It is all of us. We have to take into consideration that we all have an obligation to stewardship of the lands.”
