In honour of Julia’s memory and recognition of her impact on the industry, we have created the Julia Lane Rising Star Award. WIMBC will present this award at the Rising Star Reception.
We are so pleased to announce the inaugural recipient for this award is Danielle Mountjoy.
Danielle Mountjoy is a geologist and currently an associate analyst at Sun Valley Gold LLC with 9 years of experience in the mining industry. She has 6 years of broad geological experience from exploration to mine geology across a diversity of commodities (gold, copper, base metals) in Australia, Chile, BC and the Yukon. Following this, Danielle started with Sun Valley Gold, a precious metals-focused fund. As a member of the research team at Sun Valley, she identifies investment opportunities for the fund. In this role she has had the privilege of visiting dozens of development and mining projects around the world.
Danielle spends her time giving back to the community by serving on the Association for Mineral Exploration (“AME”) Roundup Conference Organizing Committee and as a mentee for AME’s Mentorship Program. She recently began volunteering for Threads of Life, a charity dedicated to supporting families affected by workplace tragedies. Danielle will be co-chairing the organization’s Vancouver Steps for Life awareness walk, which takes place in May 2020.
Danielle holds an Honours B.Sc. in Earth Science (with Distinction) from the University of Victoria.
