Presenter: Larry Mireku, M.Sc., P.Geo.
Larry is a professional geologist with over 22 years of hands-on experience in the mining industry. He began his career in Ghana, West Africa, and has spent the last 20 years living and working in Canada. During this past two decades he worked as a field geologist in Canada’s Maritimes, West Coast, and Arctic regions. Larry’s passion for data analytics is been evident throughout his career and he has successfully supervised implementation of data management solutions for a variety of mining and exploration companies.
Title: Data Management – Adding Value to Geoscience Investment
A recent study conducted by a global mining company indicated that exploration geologists spend about 80% of their time searching for and manipulating data versus 20% analyzing data. This trend is typical across many exploration projects and does not provide the opportunity for mine finders to do what they have been educated and trained to do.
This presentation will look at strategies that can significantly increase the time available for geologists to interrogate their data and deduce meaningful insights that could drive exploration success.
